Governor Anandiben Patel appreciated the rich cultural heritage of tribals depicted at the Museum of Anthropology at Jagdalpur while on a tour to Bastar.
The Governor keenly observed the art and artefacts displayed at the Museum.
She observed the Dhurva, Muriya, Dandami Maadiya, Bhatra, Halba, Gadhba, Abhujmaadiya, Dhorla cultural traditions instruments.
The Governor also keenly observed the traditional livelihood vocations- hunting, fishing, agriculture, housing, making of Bell metal, Terracota, iron arts and other items.
The Governor also observed the deities tribals worship- Anga Dev, Dev Palki, Dev Doli.
Bastar District Collector Ayyaj Tamboli gave a detailed description of the 75-day long festival and the people’s participation. She also purchased ‘Jhitku-Mitki’ idols made of bell metal.
The Governor wished the artisans a bright future and called upon the tribals to protect their culture and traditions.
