Himachal Govt allots 780 MW hydro electric project to SJVN

The Himachal Pradesh Government has allotted 780 MW Jangi-Thopan- Powari hydro electric project in district Kinnaur to Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) Limited.

In the letter of allotment issued by Directorate of Energy, Himachal Government, the allotment of project is on Build, Own, Operate & Transfer (BOOT)  basis for a period of 70 years.

Himachal Cabinet had on October 22 decided to allot the hydropower project to SJVN Limited.

Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director thanked the Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and State Government for reposing confidence in SJVN.

He assured that, SJVN will complete this project in time bound manner and will contribute significantly in overall development of project affected area.

The current installed generation capacity of SJVN is 2,003.2 MW (comprising of 1,912 MW Hydro + 85.6 MW Wind Power + 5.6 MW Solar Power).

Projects with a potential of 1,572 MW generation capacity are under construction, 1,848 MW under pre-construction & investment approval and 598 MW capacity is in investigation stage, he added.
