Central Reserve Police Force personnel on Sunday donated four hundred and nineteen units of blood at its Sembo Group Centre in Dhurwa to mark the ‘Police Commemoration Day’. The occasion is observed to remember the bravery and sacrifice of the force to protect the motherland.
Addressing a gathering on the CRPF IG Sanjay Lathekar said, “Police Commemoration Day’ is observed to remember the gallant fight put up by the CRPF personnel against Chinese incursions at Hot Spring in Ladakh on October 21, 1959. Thwarting a hostile incursion 10 CRPF brave hearts laid down their lives and seven others were injured.”
He said every personnel of the force must be ready to make big sacrifice for integrity and sovereignty of the county. The CRPF also honoured dependents of the martyred personnel with mementoes and commendation letters.
A CRPF press release in this regard stated that Jharkhand boasts of producing brave sons who have made the supreme sacrifice to ensure internal security of the nation. A total of 54 CRPF personnel hailing from the state have laid down their lives across various operational theatres whereas 113 CRPF personnel have attained martyrdom in Jharkhand since the creation of the State in 2000.
Besides, the force has played a premier role in containing the Maoists in Jharkhand adding deployment of CRPF has thinned the extremist’s presence to a larger extent and has restored the situation to normalcy in recent years.
