Koraput hosted a day- long literary extravaganza – Koraput literary Festival 2018. The first of its kind, the festival witnessed a congregation of about 300 authors including 200 from tribal undivided Koraput district. It is organised by publication house PEN IN Books.
literary critic and author Professor Dr Adikanda Sahu inaugurated it.
Koraput MlA Krishna Chandra Sagaria joined the inaugural session as chief guest. Tribal researcher Dr Jagabandhu Samal, secretary Shabar Shreekshetra Management Gadadhar Parida and Director Council of Analytical Tribal Studies (COATS) Dr Prafulla Chandra Mohapatra were present.
Author Dr Ajay Swain and poet Dr Aparna Mohanty received the first Koraput literary Awards (Koraput Sahitya Samman 2018) for their contribution towards Odia fiction and poetry respectively.
The post inaugural session witnessed a discussion on Odia literature and Koraput. The third session was a debate on ‘Contemporary Odia Fiction’.
The fourth session was ‘Contemporary Odia Poetry.’ The fifth session was for poetry recitation and sixth and the last session was held inside the convention hall of Council of Analytical Tribal
Studies (COATS) where a documentary ‘REMO SAM’, based on the life and culture of Bonda tribe, was screened.
