Rourkela police bust inter-state bike lifter gang

Rourkela: Police busted a gang of inter-State bike lifters and chain snatchers and arrested 15 members of the gang from different areas here. Police also recovered 32 stolen bikes, eight chains and an auto-rickshaw from their possession. The gang’s areas of operation were Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Rourkela and some part of Jharkhand. “We are investigating the case and examining involvement of the accused in other crimes," said Rourkela SP Umashanakar Dash.

Indira birth anniv celebrated in Brahmapur

Brahmapur: The 101st birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was celebrated at the Bapuji Ashram here on Monday. District Congress working president Pitabas Panda, Nagar president Pramod Jena, Niranjan Panigrahi, Sibaram Patro, Bhokali Seth, R Rajendra, Sidhanta Kumar Sahu, Sunil Panda and Deepak Patnaik paid floral tributes to the late leader. They said Indira Gandhi toiled for the uplift of the poor and downtrodden. Her contributions to the country are invaluable, they added.

Vaidika Sangham holds Satyanarayan Puja

Brahmapur: On the last Monday of Kartik month, the Vaidika Sangham, Brahmapur organised a Samuhik Satyanarayan Puja at the Subudhibeda temple here. Veda pandits V Basudev Sastry, Bala Krishna Sharma and others guided hundreds of devotees and performed the puja. Among others, temple trustee Kasi Viswanath Subudhi, Sangham president Narayan Murty, members D Suresh, A Maleswar Rao and KV Pratap were present.       

DAV Vedanta School holds blood donation camp

Lanjigarh: The DAV Vedanta International School celebrated Children’s Day for three days here in which various events like an inter-house dance competition, a “Save Environment” Carnival and a science exhibition. Vedanta ltd Lanjigarh operation and maintenance head KA Chowdary had inaugurated the programme in presence of school Principal Shukla Chakraborty, External Affairs head Sanjeev Kumar, Commercial head Anil Rai Lanjigarh BEO Sanjeev Kumar Naik. On the occasion, a blood donation camp was organised in partnership with the Vedanta Hospital and District Red Cross Society, Kalahandi in which a total of 89 units of blood were collected.

NTPC holds awareness meet ‘Yuvati’

Talcher: The NTPC Talcher Kaniha organised an innovative “Yuvati” programme from November 12 to 16 creating awareness among adolescent girls. Girls were sensitised to maintain hygiene, menstrual cycle and complexities and to develop personality and grow as a person physically and psychologically. Around 100 adolescent girls of two nearby high schools participated and were distributed sanitary pads as promotion of health and hygiene. Among others, NTPC HR Head KS Sarma, AGM (HR) PVGV Srinivas, DGM (HR) PK Sahu, DGM (HR) Jakir Khan, ES (HR) MV Rao, Junior Officer (HR) Jyotsnarani Pradhan and Tanvi Consultancy, Bhubaneswar faculties Mukteswar Patra were present.
