BJP Khordha unit welcomes Aparajita
Khordha: The BJP Khordha unit on Monday organised a bike rally in which hundreds of party activists participated and welcomed IAS officer-turned BJP leader Aparajita Sarangi. A meeting was also organised in which Sarangi, local BJP leader Jyotrindranath Mitra, State executive member Kalucharan Khandeitray, Rashmi Ranjan Mahapatra, Subash Gantayat, Ajay Mishra, Nikunj Patnaik, Ranjan Mangaraj, Urmila Mahapatra and Mamata Jena spoke. Among others, BJP Nagar Mandal president Dillip Hota, Central Mandal president Sheik Kabir, Southern Mandal president Ramakant Jena, Manguli Jena, Pabitra Bhujbal and Ramchandra Parida were present.
IHRO observes Human Rights Day
Bhubaneswar: The International Human Rights Organisation (IHRO), Odisha branch observed the International Human Rights Day at Amarapali on Monday. Members spoke on the human rights and passed a resolution to protest against the human rights violations in the State. In the meeting, it was also decided that members would be appointed in every district and block to make people aware about human rights. Among others, branch general secretary Rabi Maharana, president Gopal Satpathy, former DGP Sanjeev Marik, former Minister Panchanan Kanungo, Bibhuti Mishra, Amit Das and Siddhant Tiwari were present.
Nalco mines division bags safety awards
Bhubaneswar: Nalco’s Panchapatmali Bauxite Mines bagged a rich haul of awards in multiple categories at the 36th Annual Metallic Ferrous Mines Safety Week celebration held at Sukinda. Besides, employees of the company’s mines division at Damanjodi also won individual prizes. Congratulating the mines collective, Nalco CMD Dr TK Chand said,” Nalco’s Bauxite Mines is the second lowest-cost producer in the world; and we are making all efforts to make our mines the lowest-cost producer.”
Blankets distributed to poor in city
Bhubaneswar: Students from the Madhusudan Institute of Cooperative Management, ‘Aaradhya Charitable Trust, chief Sagarika Satapathy, NGO Arohee’s Suchi Gupta and Silu Bhai and Arun Prasad Sahoo distributed blankets among homeless, elderly and physically- handicapped people near the Ram Mandir here recently. They would again distribute blankets to such people during the current winter season, they said.
Sainik School holds annual athletic meet
Bhubaneswar: The Sainik School, Bhubaneswar organised its 57th annual athletic meet here on Tuesday. IAF Wing Commander Amitabh Ranjan graced the occasion as chief guest. A total of 600 cadets of 11 hostels participated in various events.
