2 vehicles nabbed for smuggling adulterated food

Chandigarh: In yet another one of its kind illicit movement of substandard sweets, Punjab’s food safety team, in two different inspections, nabbed two newspaper carrying vehicles smuggling alleged adulterated sweets. Informing this, the State Food and Drug Administration commissioner Kahan Singh Pannu appreciated the teams’ vigilance. Commissionerate’s entire staff is working with utmost dedication and sincerity for the success of Tandarust Punjab Mission, and the voluntary participation of women in ‘wee-hours raids’ deserves a special appreciation, he said.

BSNL’s new unlimited offer for durga puja

Chandigarh: The State owned telecom giant — Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) — has introduced unlimited voucher New STV-78 on the occasion of Durga Puja, Dussehra and Diwali for its all prepaid mobile customers from Tuesday. The New STV-78 offers unlimited data, unlimited voice calls and unlimited video calls having validity 10 days. The offer is effective from October 15, 2018, on PAN India basis, said BSNL Punjab Circle chief general manager (telecom) JC Menaria.

IIT Ropar ranked 3rd in research quality by QS

Ropar: IIT Ropar has made a mark in the history being adjudged third in research quality in India. Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) has announced the best 75 institutions in India and  IIT Ropar has ranked 21st among the top 75 Indian Universities ranking, scoring highest in the Research Quality with third rank,  academic reputation with 86 per cent score and 79 per cent in employer reputation.

ASI arrested for accepting bribe

Chandigarh: Haryana State Vigilance Bureau has caught Assistant Sub-Inspector Jitender Kumar, Police Station, Udyog Vihar, Gurugram, red handed while accepting illegal gratification of Rs 10,000 from Vineet Kumar of Gurugram. Spokesperson said Jitender Kumar accepted bribe in lieu of preparing papers and producing the PO in the court as the PO was declared in cheque bounce case.

PUCA urges varsity to extend cut-off date

Mohali: Punjab Unaided Colleges Association (PUCA) has urged Punjabi University, Patiala, to extend the cut-off date on the pattern of Panjab University, Chandigarh, for admissions for its affiliated colleges. PUCA president Dr Anshu Kataria said that keeping in mind the future of hundreds of reappear students, Punjabi University should also extend the last date of admissions till October 25 as done by Panjab University.
