Gangadhar Pratisthan holds Nuakhai Bhetghat 

Bhubaneswar: The Gangadhar Meher Pratisthan organised a Nuakhai Bhetghat programme here on Monday. Former State Election Commissioner Sanjeev Hota and former DGPs Amiya Bhusan Tripathy and SN Tiwari attended as guests. At the outset, the guests and others paid offerings to Maa Samaleswari. Later, cultural programmes were held being presided over by former Utkal University of Culture Vice-Chancellor Narendra Mishra. Among others, Pratisthan chairman Mihir Meher and Utkal Sammilani Mancheswar branch president Dillip Dashsharma were present.

B’pur Rly Childline recues 13 children

Brahmapur: As many as 13 children, including 11 boys and 2 girls, from Odisha and West Bengal, who were being taken to other States to work as labourers, were rescued by a Brahmapur Railway Childline centre team led by its secretary Prabhu Prasad Patra on Sunday. Among the children, three boys and two girls are of Keonjhar district, one of West Bengal and others are of Ganjam district. Team members Narsingha Prasad Panigrahi, Gopal Dalbehera, Kuni Sethi, Anita Joseph and Gitanjali Badatiya along with the help of Railway Protection Force (RPF) rescued the children.

2 quintal ganja seized, 4 held in Brahamapur

Brahmapur: The Phiringia police of Kandhamal district seized 2.08 quintals of ganja and arrested four persons in the connection in Brahmapur. The police also seized motorcycles from their possession. Acting on a tipoff, a Phiringia police team led by IIC Dheeren Behera had raided and arrested the accused. Behera said that the arrestees are natives of Chhattisgarh.

JK Paper bags National Safety Award 

Rayagada: The JK Paper Mills here bagged the National Safety Award for the outstanding safety performance and achieving “Accident Free Year 2016” at a function organised by the Director General, Factory Advice and Labour Institute (DGFASLI) in New Delhi.  JK Paper Mills, Jaykaypur executive VP PK Suri received the award from Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Santosh Kumar Gangwar. All employees of JKPM conveyed their gratitude to Suri, who also recently was bestowed with Global Mills Manager Award.
