Inter-State police meet focuses on Naxal infested areas

With the festive season inching closer, the Kolhan administration is not willing to take any chances whatsoever with regard to the  Maoist activities.

Deputy inspector general, Kolhan, Kuldeep Dwivedi presided over a high-level meeting of senior cops from Odisha and West Bengal along with superintendents of police of different districts to review the law and order situation. East Singhbhum Senior SP Anoop Birtharay Superintendent of police Seraikela-Kharsawan, Chandan Kumar Sinha respectively, and senior police officers from Purulia and Mayurbhanj district.

Talking to the newsmen, the DIG, Dwivedi, said the meeting was aimed at working in co-ordinated way against the CPI-Maoist rebels in Kolhan and also in the bordering districts.

"During the meeting the officials of police and paramilitary forces exchanged of information regarding the naxals movement in areas of concern like Ghatshila, Patamda, Nimdih, Chandil, Saranda, and Kiriburu in Kolhan areas with  Purulia, Burdwan and West Midnapore districts in Bengal and also with Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Sundergarh districts in Odisha," said the DIG.

He said they decided to ensure that the police or para-military force of any of these three states should not wait for a nod from higher ups for chasing any rebel or squad of rebels who tend to sneak into other state during a special operation.

He said such border district co-ordination meeting should be held every month from now on until the rebels are not wiped out. The meeting started at the conference hall of the senior SP, Jamshedpur from 11 am and continued till 4.30 pm.

During the meeting the police establishments of the three States decided to set up additional check post in bordering areas. The officials said that additional check posts would be set in bordering areas to put a check on movement of ultras. Adequate security arrangements would be made during elections to curb any untoward incidents.
