Wednesday, 19 September 2018 | PNS | Jamshedpur

A 28-year-old man stabbed his lover’s husband to death at Ramnagar under Kadma police station area on Monday morning.  The assailant, Ratan Pahi, who is father of three daughters, decided to kill Ranju Pandey (25) at her house Road No 2 of Ramnagar, but as Ranju's husband Jivan Kishore Pandey (40) wanted to stop the assailant, the latter stabbed him to death. Jivan used to work at a small scale industry at Adityapur.

Ratan who is a resident of Sonari had subsequently stabbed Jivan's elderly father and younger brother before stabbing Ranju. Ranju sustained grievous stabbing injuries and is admitted at the Tata Main Hospital, where as her father-in-law and brother-in-law who had sustained minor injuries were released after first aid.

The assailant Ratan, who works in a  private cable network agency and also would drive auto-rickshaw fled the city after committing the crime. The police have picked up Ratan's wife, Nandini Pahi.

OC, Kadma police station, JK Thakur said they have been raiding various places in and around the city ever since Ratan committed the murder on Monday.

According to sources in the police, Ratan had established illicit relation with Ranju a couple of years ago. As Ratan had three daughters, he was craving for a male child.  Incidentally, as his paramour Ranju gave birth to a male child a month ago, Ratan demanded the child claiming himself to be the biological father.  But, the woman had turned down her lover's request.  This was the reason that Ratan got angry at Ranju and wanted to kill her.  Unfortunately, Ranju's husband Jivan who had the knowledge about the affair of his wife with Ratan faced the assailant's ire and was fatally injured on being attacked.
