Maoists kill villager in Malkangiri

Thursday, 25 October 2018 | PNS | MALKANGIRI

After a few days of lull, Maoists again struck in the district and killed a man suspecting him to be a police informer in the Dhakadrasi area under the Mathili police station on Tuesday night.

The deceased was identified as Anant Nath Bhumiya of Bariguda village.

As per reports, Bhumiya had gone to a nearby village to see an opera when the Red rebels arrived and forcibly dragged him into to the forest. Later, he was hacked to death with sharp weapons. Bhumiya succumbed to the injuries while being taken to a hospital by his family members.

The rebels suspected that Bhumiya was passing on information about their movements to the police.

The incident has once again triggered panic among the locals in the Maoist-infested district.
