Monday, 12 November 2018 | Staff Reporter | Raipur

District Electoral Officer (DEO), Raipur Basavaraju S has served a notice for violation of Modal Code of Conduct (MCC) to Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Bhupesh Baghel.

Explanation has been sought by the DEO for personnel attack on Chief Minister and his family members in an advertisement issued by Congress on November 10 and 11 for some print media.

Member Secretary Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC), Pawan Gupta informed that Bharatiya Janata Party has lodged a complaint about an advertisements released by the Congress about an alleged Chit Fund scam worth Rs 10,000 crore and the alleged nexus of the company with the government.

In the said advertisement Congress had made personnel attack on the Chief Minister Raman Singh and his family members.

“This personnel attack without proof of the allegation is a clear violation of the model code of conduct which has been laid out by the Election Commission of India”, BJP said in the complaint.

BJP had lodged complaint to Chief Electoral Officer Subrat Sahoo which was forwarded by him to the DEO, Raipur. The DEO prima facie finding the complaint to be true, had issued notice to CGPCC Chief and had sought an explanation about the matter. Further action would be taken after the reply is received, said Gupta.
