The Complaint Cell at the Office of Raipur District Electoral Officer has issued notice to a WhatsApp Group Administrator for violation of election Model Code of Conduct (MCC) on Saturday.
The notice has directed the respondent to provide the reply within three days. If satisfactory reply is not received within the time-limit, then legal action would be initiated under IT Act 2000, it stated.
Complaint cell In-charge and Deputy Collector Rajiv Pandey has issued the notice to Sandeep Shriwas. The notice states that through the mobile number on October 19 at 8.15 pm, one WhatsApp group was formed in which administrative officers without their permission was added in the group.
The WhatsApp Display Picture (DP) was of a particular political party which has been represented as election symbol.
As the administrative officers were added in the group without seeking their consent and permission, it has violated the election Model Code of Conduct and IT Act 2000 provisions.
