Panchayats bypoll at 5 blocks today

By-elections in the three-tier panchayats will be held today at five blocks under Ranchi District administration. The election procedure will be carried out at Tamar, Sonahatu, Angara, Silli and Ormanjhi.

In accordance to the district administration communiqué, for three blocks namely Sonahatu, Silli and Ormanjhi, the poll will be conducted for three posts of the panchayat samitis while for Tamar, Angara blocks, the election will be held for four posts of the panchayat samitis.

The district administration has made as many as 83 polling booths. The bifurcation of polling centres suggests that there are 52 buildings demarcated as polling centers. Over 54 polling booths are rated as the highly sensitive polling counters while 14 polling counters have been demarcated as sensitive. 15 polling centres are categorised as the general polling booths. Naxal affected polling centres are 51 while non-naxal influenced polling booths number is 32.

Around 27,948 eligible voters will cast their ballot. As many as 14,177 males are in the voters list. The number of women electors is 13,771. Altogether, 83 polling parties are in the panchayat election fray. 25 zonal officers, four super zonal officials have been appointed.

The count of clusters is seven. On December 18, the polling parties were sent to the respective blocks.

Each polling party has been given two ballot boxes. Assistance of five mechanics was also provided on the dispatch day at Birsa Munda Football Stadium to aid the polling persons in case of any technical emergency.

The district administration has constituted a City Control Room in the State Capital which will be made functional from 7 AM onwards on the polling day. The City Control Room will be under the supervision of Sagar Kumar, Executive Magistrate. All voters will have to bring their valid ID cards with them.

Two strong rooms including two halls for counting the votes have been defined at the Bazaar Samiti. The counting of votes will be done at Krishi Utpadan Bazaar Samiti on December 22 from 8 AM onwards. In a bid to ensure transparency, create hassle-free environment, a Composite Control Room has been made at the counting centre. A Composite Control Room will be under the strict surveillance of the senior officials. Deployment of the security personnel have been done at each block in sufficient number to ensure safe polling procedure.
