PM Modi to visit Kedarnath on Deepawali day

Tuesday, 06 November 2018 | PNS | Dehradun

The State Government and Bharatiya Janata Party are all prepared to receive Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is slated to visit Kedarnath on Deepawali. The PM is scheduled to spend a couple of hours at Kedarnath on the morning of November 7.

Modi may also spend some time with army men at one of two locations in Chamoli district though this plan has not been officially confirmed yet.

The BJP State president Ajay Bhatt said that the State and party are fully prepared to receive the Prime Minister on his visit to Kedarnath.

The Prime Minister has deep faith in lord Kedarnath which is why he has not only visited the shrine various times but is also taking a keen interest in the reconstruction works there. It should be mentioned here that earlier the PM was slated to visit Kedarnath in October but could not do so.

He will now visit the shrine on Deepawali day. Apart from offering prayers at the shrine, he is also expected to inspect the various reconstruction and development works undertaken there. He may also visit Garudchatti near Kedarnath where he is said to have spent considerable time many years ago before entering active politics.

Modi may also visit army soldiers either at Mana near the Indo-China border or at Joshimath and spend some time with them on the festive occasion. However, this has not yet been officially confirmed by the authorities.

It should be mentioned here that the Kedarnath shrine is slated to be closed to the public for the winters on November 9.
