Wednesday, 14 November 2018 | PNS | Dehradun

The Bharatiya Janata Party State president Ajay Bhatt said that party leadership and workers are campaigning in full strength for the urban local body elections and the public response points towards a BJP wave in the state.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Bhatt averred that a pro-BJP wave was on in the state with candidates of the party eliciting considerable enthusiasm from the public. The party’s state leadership is undertaking intensive campaign at various places. The chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and Bhatt himself will be busy addressing public meets and participating in road shows till November 16.

In the second leg of his tour, the party state in charge and national vice president Shyam Jaju will campaign from November 14 to 16. Similarly, MP and former CM Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ has been campaigning since November 12 in various locations. MP and former CM Bhagat Singh Koshyari is unable to participate in public meets due to ill-health but he has issued an appeal addressed to the people of the state eliciting support for BJP candidates in the local body elections. Rajya Sabha MP and the party’s national media in charge Anil Baluni has also toured to campaign for party candidates. Union minister of State, Ajay Tamta is also busy campaigning in his Lok Sabha constituency while Tehri MP Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah is campaigning in her constituency.

Former CM Vijay Bahuguna, all cabinet ministers of the state government, all BJP MLAs and party’s state office bearers are busy campaigning in their assigned areas.

Bhatt stated, “The people of Uttarakhand have full faith in the BJP and its leadership. They seen through the misinformation being spread by the Congress. The people understand that the character and actions of the Congress are anti-Uttarakhand and detrimental to development.

They are assured that like prime minister Narendra Modi at the Centre and CM Trivendra Singh Rawat in the state are expediting developmental works and acting against corruption, electing the BJP candidates in the local bodies will boost development works in the local body areas,” said the BJP State president.
