Releasing Rs 25 crore pending to the state’s sugarcane farmers, Punjab Government on Monday announced that the balance amount of Rs 192 crore would soon be released.
Announcing this, the state Cooperation Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa said that the State Government is fully committed to the welfare of farming community of the State as they form the backbone of cooperative sector and have the potential to uplift the rural economy of the state.
Randhawa, during a meeting with the top brass of the Sugarfed, said that as a part of its commitment towards the welfare of the sugarcane farmers, a sum of Rs 25 crore has been released on Monday which was due to them.
Till date, Rs 500 crore, out of the total Rs 692.71 crore pertaining to sugarcane crushing season of 2017-18, has been released and the balance amount which comes to Rs 192 crore would also be released soon as the State Government has the well being of the farming sector uppermost in its mind.
