Members of the Sambalpur District Bar Association intensified their agitation on Monday over their demand of establishment of a High Court Bench in western Odisha.
While law students took out a bike rally here, members of the bar association staged a relay hunger strike to press their demands.
The lawyers have decided to paralyse functioning of the State and Central Government offices in the area from November 19 to 30. They have been continuing cease-work over the demand since September 5.
The lawyers have also called for a 48-hour ‘Mahabandh’ in western Odisha on November 29 and 30. District Bar Association president Bijitendriya Pradhan said all Government offices, educational institutions, courts, banks and financial institutions would be closed during the two-day strike. Besides, vehicular movement and train services wouldalso be paralysed, he added.
