2014 NDFB killings: Death for two, life for two others

A Special NIA Court today awarded death sentence to two and life imprisonment to two others regarding the infamous 2014 massacre, where armed terrosists belonging to National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) killed six persons and injured two others.

Two of the accused identified as Bishnu Narzary alias N Berema and Ajoy Basumutary alias B Buhumbua were pronounced death sentences while the court pronounced life imprisonment to Sanju Bordoloi alias Sibigiri and Nitul Daimary alias D Naihab. The court has last month convicted the four but pronounced the quantum of punishments on Saturday.

The armed cadres of NDFB on th evening of December 23, 2014 launched a series of attacks targeting mostly Adivasi community in four locations in Assam killing over 60 people and injuring many. The terrosists attacked the adivasi community at Chirang, Sonitpur and Kokrajhar districts th same evening.

While different cases have been registered over the serial attack against the NDFB, the NIA had taken up investigation of four such cases that occurred at Hatijuli Shantipur village in Sonitpur district of Assam, where six persons were killed and two others were injured.

The NIA registered the cases on December 30 the same year under section 120B, 121, 147, 148, 302 of IPC, sec. 25(1A), 27 of Arms Act and sec. 10, 13, 16, 18, 20 of UA (P) Act.

Charge sheet regarding the four cases was filed against above-mentioned four accused on July 22, 2015.
