Rasika to do show on authors

Actress Rasika Dugal aims to do a series on the forgotten authors of India and says it is important that their thoughts and stories be kept alive with the youth of the country.

“While preparing and promoting Manto, I realised that there are so many people who are eager to share what they have read and what resonated with them about the film and others who have been inspired to read it after getting to know about the film. There is a wealth of literature from Manto and so many of his contemporaries — Ismat Chugtai, Krishan Chandar, Rajinder Singh Bedi and many more. I think it is important that their thoughts and stories be kept alive with the youth,” said Rasika.

‘The more women speak up, the more it will give confidence to the abused and will also serve as a deterrent to those who have felt they can get away with it. For me, #TimesUp is a better movement as it doesn't solely put the onus on the victims’

— Nandita Das

Bollywood actor Shakti Kapoor laughed off the Tanushree Dutta harassment incident recently during a press conference saying that he was a child ten years ago when it took place. “I don’t know anything about this case. This was 10 years back, I was a kid back then,” he said. Many actors in the industry have spoken for and against the allegations Dutta has levelled against Nana Patekar.

‘Racism needs to be addressed’

Supermodel-actress Cara Delevingne feels issues like immigration, classism and racism need to be addressed, and says that is the reason behind doing the TV series Carnival Row, directed by Jon Amiel.

It is described as a fantasy-noir set in a neo-Victorian city with mythical creatures fleeing their war-torn homeland gathering in the city. “The part I play has so much fire... Other characters and the story relate to what is happening in the world right now,” Cara said.
