Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang dead

Hanoi: Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang died on Friday at the age of 61 after a serious illness, state media reported. “President Tran Dai died at 10:05 am on the 21st of September at the military hospital,”the official Vietnam News Agency reported Friday.

Pardon reporters: UN chief to Myanmar

United Nations: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Friday said he hoped that Myanmar’s Government will pardon two Reuters journalists who were sentenced to seven years in jail after they reported on massacres in Rakhine state.

Paris: More than half of all countries will likely fail to hit the UN target of reducing premature deaths from a quartet of chronic diseases by a third before 2030, researchers said on Friday. Cancers, heart and blood-vessel disease, diabetes, and chronic respiratory disease combined to kill 12.5 million people aged 30 to 70 worldwide in 2016, they reported in a major study.
