Foreign space agency opens in Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi: The French Embassy in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has opened a representative office here of the French space agency, the first of its kind in the country. The announcement was made on Sunday during a ceremony attended by the visiting President of the Centre National d’Etudes Spatiale (CNES), Jean-Yves Le Gall, and Mohammed Al Ahbabi, Director-General of the UAE Space Agency.

‘Schoolgirls in uniform sexually harassed’
London: As many as one in three schoolgirls report being sexually harassed when out in their school uniforms, a UK-based children’s charity said on Monday. A survey of 1,004 girls aged between 14 and 21 conducted by Plan International UK found that 35 per cent had received unwanted sexual attention or contact, including being groped, stared at, cat-called and wolf-whistled.

‘Idiocracy’ among 1,400 new words in Oxford
London: Idiocracy — a Government formed of people considered ignorant or idiotic — is among 1,400 new words, senses, and phrases added in the latest update of the Oxford English Dictionary. The dictionary records over 100 words derived ultimately from the Greek suffix -cracy, meaning ‘power’ or ‘rule’. The new addition idiocracy, refers to a society consisting of or governed by people characterised as idiots, or a government formed of people considered stupid, ignorant, or idiotic.
