SBI PO Main Exam Analysis

The State Bank of India Probationary Officer is one of the most coveted banking exams of India. It is a national level exam and this year is being conducted for 2000 vacancies of Probationary Officers (POs) posts. The selection for this post is held in three stages: Prelims, Main, and Interview. Out of  9.5 lakh students who appeared for the Prelims exam on June 8-9 about 20,000 students qualified for the main exam which was held on July 21.

The overall level of the exam was difficult. The sequence of sections was — Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, Data Analysis & Interpretation, General Awareness, and English Language.

In the Reasoning & Computer Aptitude section, many new questions were asked. In Data Analysis & Interpretation, majority of the questions were asked from the new type of Data Interpretation. In the English, maximum questions were from Reading Comprehension. In General/Economy/ Banking Awareness, more than 35 questions were asked from current affairs. The toughest section was Reasoning & Computer Aptitude while English was the easiest.

In a bid to gain an in-depth exposure of Skill Development Ecosystem of India, and drive greater cooperation between the two countries, representatives of the Government met senior officials from the Government of Maldives and signed MoUs.

The countries agreed to extend cooperation in training and skilling in a number of sectors including agriculture, IT, tourism and fisheries. Other areas of support include entrepreneurship, apprenticeship and training of trainers.

The Centre for Rural Technology (CRT) of Indian Institute of Guwahati (IIT-G) in collaboration with MS Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) and Centre for Agriculture and Bioscience International (CABI) New Delhi organised a week-long capacity building programme on Becoming a Plant Doctor. The workshop was attended by subject-matter specialists from various Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) of Assam and Odisha, researchers from MSSRF, Assam Agricultural University (AAU), National Rice Research Institute (NRRI) and IIT Guwahati.

The inaugural address was delivered by Professor TG Sitharam, Director, IIT-G. He talked about the need for farmer friendly, science and technology based advisory systems in building the resilience among small and marginal farmers.

Frugal Innovations

Bringing the focus on Frugal Innovation, FORE School of Management, New Delhi (FSM) organised Roundtable 2.0 on —Frugal Approach to Innovation: So Far and Way Forward. The event was organised by FSM’s Centre for Research and Innovation in Frugal Technology Management. This centre is unique since it is dedicated to furthering Frugal Innovation. It works closely with industry and technology institutes in India and abroad to contribute to the body of knowledge in this important area and facilitates market access and commercial feasibility for frugal innovations.

The inaugural roundtable was held in January 2019 and comprised of theme-oriented presentations.
