Mining engineering or mineral engineering deals with the techniques to extract and process minerals utilisation. It involves several stages —exploration and discovery, checking the feasibility, development and marketing to final land restoration and rehabilitation. Many a times mineral engineers work with geologists and metallurgical engineers to locate new deposit areas. The work mainly involves training of workers and supervisors and to ensure that they are safe. A degree in mining (BE/Btech) and a certificate from The Director General of Mines and Safety, Dhanbad, is a must. Starting salary ranges between Rs 20000-Rs 25000 per month.
