An expelled All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) municipal corporator from Aurangabad Sayed Mateen Sayed Rasheed on Monday, as the police booked him for second rape within four months –this time around for allegedly perpetrating sexual assault on a 27 year-old woman at a water park at Khandala near Pune.
Rasheed’s brother Mateen Rasheed Sayyed and brother-in-law Hameed Siddiqui have also been booked by the Chakan police for alleged rape.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that Rasheed, who had known the victim woman for some time, took her and her two children along with in a car on the false pretext that her mother had suddenly taken ill. After taking her to near a water park at Khandala, he and two relatives allegedly raped the victim woman at gun point.
Official sources said victim woman is a serving municipal corporator. Earlier in January, the Aurangabad police had booked Rasheed for allegedly drugging a woman and raping her at a lodge located on the outskirts of that city.
Rasheed, who had been arrested last month in connection with the first alleged rape case, was reportedly on bail when the second incident took place. He had allegedly raped the victim woman on several occasions over a period of some months.
Rasheed has been courting controversies over the years. He was expelled from the AIMIM in December last year for anti-party activities.
Rasheed was among the two AIMIM corporators who were suspended from the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on August 17,2017 after they refused to stand up when the “Vande Mataram” was being recited, raised slogans and clashed with other corporators.
Later in August 2018, Mateen had created a huge uproar in the AMC by opposing a motion paying tribute to late Prime Minister AB Vajpayee.
