Monday, 18 November 2019 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

Members of various organisations on Sunday staged a dhanra in front of the demolished Kalyan Mandap at Nayapalli here demanding construction of a park on the land for use of common people.

“Nayapalli is a very old area of the city. But there is no park, childrnen’s park, hospital, water ATM, permanent Post Office, gymnasium and community hall. More than 100 acres of land has been used for 120 Infantry Battalion and Government offices. There was only one Kalyan Mandap which has been demolished for construction of a multi-storied building. A building  can be built elsewhere, but a common park for Nayapalli can’t come up at any other place. Hence, we demand that a park for use common people be build on the 1.224 acres of land on which the Kalyan Mandap had once stood,” demanded agitators.

They urged the General Administration Department to change any proposal made by the Government and grant the land for construction of park only.

Barishtha Nagarika Kalyan Sangha president Rahas Bihari Pani, general secrtary Shyam Sundar Sahoo, general secretary Prabhat Kishore Rout, Mahaveen Samajika Sangathan president Radhaballabh Baral, general secretary Milan Kumar Paikaray, Kasturi Mahila Sangathan president Kananbala Mohapatra, Regional Development Centre president Ramesh Chandra Mohanty, Ramesh Chandra Nayak, Ashok Kumar Sahoo, Rakesh Kumar Mohanty, LN Laughter Club president Jaya Krushna Rajhans and general secretary Hemant Kumar Sahoo were present.
