‘Cong wooing voters through fake promises’

Sunday, 21 April 2019 | PNS | Ranchi

BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP, Mahesh Poddar, on Saturday raised questions on the proposed Nyay Scheme of Indian National Congress saying that when the party claims ‘Ab Hoga Nyay’ (justice will be served now) it also implies that Congress was responsible for all the injustice happening till date.

“Before announcing any such new scheme, the Congress party should repent and apologise to the public,” Poddar said.

He added, “Before this, they (Congress Party) had repeatedly shouted out the slogans of ‘Gareebi Hatao’ (remove poverty). However, poverty was not removed but poor were. Now how can public trust them with this new slogan?”

Taking a jibe at Rahul Gandhi’s statement about recovering the money from Neerav Modi and Vijay Malya to fund the Nyay Scheme, Poddar said that this is misguiding people, as the money from these people belongs to the banks.

“Here, Subodh Kant Sahay says that the money for this scheme would be derived by cutting down expenses of other ongoing schemes. How is it going to help people?” he said.

The MP pointed out that the expenses for Nyay Scheme is estimated to be Rs. 3.6 lakh crore which is much more than the budget for social scheme 2019-20, which is Rs. 3.34 lakh crore. “If the ongoing schemes are not shut down before starting this Nyay Scheme then the government will have to give a subsidy of Rs. 6.9 lakh crore under social schemes which is not just impossible but also suicidal for the country’s economy,” Poddar said.

Talking about the proposal of Minimum Income Guarantee Scheme, Poddar said that the promise of paying Rs. 72,000 annually to the beneficiaries will lead to the collapse of the financial order of the Country.

“The total cost of the scheme will be 2 per cent of the GDP and 13 per cent of the budget. This will not fulfil the real needs of the public,” he said. He emphasised on how the Modi government’s introduction Mudra Yojna helped much more fruitful in providing employment to citizens.

“Congress government promised one rank, one pension in 2008 and Food Security in 2013 but could do nothing. It was Modi government which implemented these long pending schemes,” the MP said.

Poddar alleged that the Congress Party started organized loot in 1971 with nationalisation of banks. “In 2008, bank loan was Rs. 16 lakh crore which increased three fold in six years to Rs. 52 lakh crore in 2014. Modi government rectified 22 banks through PCA,” he said.

The MP pointed out on how Allahabad High Court issued a notice to the Congress Party questioning that why this announcement should not be considered as a bribe to the voters and why should the party not be banned.

Poddar emphasised on the various schemes of BJP government claiming that two lakh Jandhan accounts were opened, 70 lakh gas connections allotted and electricity reached in 50,000 houses every day.
