Vacant land should be utilized for farming and necessary measures be taken so that they bring profit to local farmers and people, said chairperson of Deogaon block Reena Meher at the third annual general body meeting of Bhimpahad Krushak Producers Company Limited (BKPCL) held at Ratanpur village, 10 km from here on Tuesday. The Bhimpahad Krushak Producers Company Limited is a private company having 1,668 farmers as its shareholders, promoted by Reliance Foundation and financially supported by the Nabard.
District Development Manager (DDM) Nabard, Balangir Laxman Soy, giving details on tbe programme by Nabard for farmers development, appreciated the growth of BKPCL.
"The BKPCL last year although carried out transaction of Rs 33 lakh ,it earned a profit of Rs 4,086 only. Keeping in view, we are diversifying and expanding business in six areas," said chairman of BKPCL Lalit Rout. Among others, members of civil society organization who are promoting various farmers producer companies participated. Pradeep Mahapatra (Udyaam) and Shrabani Mohanty (Samannati), representatives from YCDA, also shared their views.
