‘UP govt working to increase income of small entrepreneur’

Sunday, 17 November 2019 | PNS | Lucknow

The Uttar Pradesh government is working for increasing small entrepreneur’s income and One District One Product (ODOP) scheme is an important link in this direction.

This was stated by MSME Minister Sidharth Nath Singh during UP Day function at the UP Pavilion at India International Trade Fair in New Delhi on Saturday.

“The ODOP scheme will help small entrepreneurs sell their products across the world. Through this scheme, the government is providing help to small entrepreneurs in designing, packaging, marketing of their products, and also in getting loans,” Singh said.

“The state government is also considering to organise a two-week exhibition to showcase products of traditional entrepreneurs in Delhi. This could lead to better marketing of their products. The state government is working towards opening up the world market for state products. Besides, help of e-commerce companies, like Amazon, is also being sought,” the minister said.

Singh said that Uttar Pradesh was attracting investment and a proposal to award 300 acres of land in Greater Noida for small scale industries was being discussed.

“At an investment of about Rs 1,500 crore, over 60,000 people will get employment,” he said.

The minister said that the UP government was working aggressively for improving Ease of Doing Business (EODB) in the state for entrepreneurs.

“Besides creating a conducive environment for investment, the UP government has launched Investment Mitra Portal for investment, through which investors can apply online and authorities will have to decide their case within a certain time. This will not only bring transparency, but also increase investors’ confidence,” he said.

Apart from Singh, Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Export Promotion, Chaudhary Udaybhan Singh, Principal Secretary (MSME and Export Promotion) Navneet Sehgal, Commissioner and Director, Trade Promotion Authority, Directorate of Industries and Enterprise Promotion, Gaurav Dayal, were also present.

The dignitaries took a round of UP Pavilion and later watched cultural programmes organised at Pragati Maidan.
