In an unfortunate incident, one person was killed while two were injured after a fire broke out in an ambulance in which one patient was sleeping while two were sitting inside the ambulance on Monday afternoon. The incident took place at Giridih's Dewari area where the ambulance was on way to Giridih town, said SDPO Jit Wahan Oraon.
According to an official from the Giridih Fire Service (GFS), the fire might have been caused by a fault of engine or incensed sticks,which was lit inside the vehicle due to the storm. The fire occurred when the dust storm hit Giridih this afternoon, resulting in the blaze quickly spreading.
Fire tender was rushed to the spot and took half an hour to douse off the fire. The deceased was identified as Sewanand Tudu 65,was sleeping at the back of the ambulance, said locals.
The two others, identified as deceased’s wife Manjhali Hansda and son Sibu Tudu, received 60 to 70 per cent burn injuries to their bodies and are recuperating at Sadar Hospital, Giridih.
One charred body was recovered from the ambulance.
