1000 ‘Saarthi’ assistive device, training to Divyaang

Arushi organisation, with the immense support from Torchit, Blind People Association and Gruh Finance Ltd CSR initiative, are providing 1000 ‘Saarthi’ Assistive device and its training to Divyaang Visually impaired people in Madhya pradesh, which will help them in independent mobility.

In continuation to this a program is organised in Arushi Bhopal where 300 electronic walking sticks will be distributed to visually impaired persons. The chief guest for the function is Nirmala Butch, Retired Chief Secretary, Government of MP and Manjula Sharma, Principal, Sarojini Naidu Government Girls PG College will be presiding over the function.

At TorchIt (IIM Ahmedabad, CIIE), they have taken up the mission to empower the Divyaang visually impaired community by providing them with the 'Power of Independence’.

This innovative product ‘Saarthi’, provides 99.7 per cent Obstacle Detection Accuracy in all possible setups including closed rooms (within 2 feet), lobbies (within 4 feet) and streets & open areas (within 8 feet). Saarthi is ergonomically designed, battery efficient device that can be used standalone or can be attached to any white cane.

Saarthi has gained recognition & awards across multiple platforms including being the Top 5 promising social start-ups awarded by PM Modi, Millennium Alliance Round 5 award – TDB, USAID and UK Govt, Social Acceleration awarded by IIM Ahmedabad and IIGP 2.0 winners - Tata Trust, FICCI, MIT.

The event is organised on 12th of March 2019; 12:00 PM at Arushi (Shivaji Nagar) by Aarushi, Blind People Association and TorchIt, where we would distribute the Saarthi device to around 300 Divyaang visually impaired beneficiaries.
