A 15 -year-old girl of Baliapal block on Saturday sustained critical injuries after she was attacked with a razor blade by a youth, when she objected his rape attempt.
She is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital here in a serious condition. The victim, a resident of Kachuapara village under Baliapal police limits, had developed a relationship with one Muna of Baleswar town over Facebook.
They had been talking over phone with each other for over six months. After the couple developed an intimacy later, the boy called up the girl to elope with him on the pretext of marriage on Saturday night.
When she reached the location, the youth forced her to have physical relationship with him before marriage. When she opposed it, the youth made several attacks on her with a sharp weapon injuring his neck and ear severely.
The accused later fled the spot, leaving her in a pool of blood on the road at Hasimpur village. The girl was rescued by locals and sent to hospital. Police launched a manhunt to nab the accused.
