2 minors among 5 held for kidnapping, killing man

Friday, 13 September 2019 | Staff Reporter | NEW DELHI

The Delhi Police has arrested three persons while two juveniles have been detained who allegedly abducted a 23-year-old man and later thrashed him to death in an act of revenge near the ridge forest in Mandir Marg area.

The accused persons have been identified as, Yogesh alias Makdi (20), a native of  Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh (UP), Lalit (22) a native of Bulandshahr in West UP and Gaurav (19) a native of Farukhabad district while two juveniles have been detained for abducting Vikas (23) and later thrashing him to death.

Police said that Vikas's  decomposed body was recovered at the instance of the accused persons. According to Eish Singhal, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), New Delhi district, on Saturday about 9 pm, a police control room (PCR) call regarding abduction of a person was received at Mandir Marg police station.

"The caller reported that her son has been abducted by a man known as Makdi and his accomplices. Subsequently a case was registered and a probe was initiated. During probe, it was found that the alleged Makdi is a vagabond. He neither has any

permanent address in Delhi nor has a mobile phone," said the DCP.

"The only clue available with the police team was that the alleged alongwith a few other vagabonds lives on the footpath near Hanuman Mandir, Connaught Place. Further during investigation his accomplice was

nabbed, following a tip off and on his instance Makdi and three others who were

hiding in a park near Red Fort were also nabbed," said the DCP.

"During their interrogation, it was revealed that Makdi had some dispute with a neighbour of Vikas due to which Vikas and his friends had detained Makdi in a room and beaten him badly on September 6 (Friday)," said the DCP.

"Makdi was taken to RML Hospital for treatment on the same night by one of his minor friend and after getting discharged, Makdi narrated the incident to his

friends including Gaurav and two minors and informed

that Vikas had nothing to do with the issue but he was the one who remained more aggressive in beating Makdi," said the DCP.

"Hence, they all decided to take revenge. Accordingly, they started looking for him and spotted him near emporium on Saturday morning. They cornered him and beat him with fist and blows and later took him to Connaught Place and then hired an auto and took him to jungle area near Shankar Road and Mandir Lane where all six of them beat him to death. All of them fled the spot leaving the body in the jungle," the DCP said.

"The suspects led the cops to the place where putrefied body of Vikas was found. As per preliminary investigation, six persons are involved in this case out of which five are nabbed," the DCP said adding that, search for the sixth accused is on.
