The Delhi Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested two key members of an international drug syndicate active in many States in the country. Police said that the duo used to supply narcotics in West-Bengal, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) and police have also recovered 14 kilogram (kg) of heroin worth Rs 50 crore in international market from the possession of the accused.

The accused have been identified as Sanjeet Kumar Singh (34), a resident of Varanasi in UP and Pardeep Kumar Yadav (24), a resident of Gazipur, UP.

According to Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Special Cell, on November 19, specific inputs were received that two key members of an international drug cartel namely, Sanjeet and Pardeep have picked up a huge consignment of heroin from one Didi of Siliguri, West-Bengal and they would come to Sector-24, Rohini to supply the same to their Delhi based contact.

“Acting on the specific inputs a trap was laid and duo was nabbed at around 7 AM on Tuesday. During checking police found 14 kg of heroin which the duo was carrying in a pithu bag. Subsequently, a case under section 21/29 of NDPS Act at was registered at Special Cell police station and duo was placed under arrest,” said the DCP.

“During interrogation, the duo revealed that one ‘Didi’ of Manipur (real name not known) is a notorious drug dealer. She procures Heroin from Nepal, Myanmar and Bangladesh and delivers the same to her contacts at Siliguri, West-Bengal in a safe manner,” said the DCP.

“Sanjeet told police that after coming in contact with Didi in year 2012, he started dealing in small consignments of heroin and supplied the same to scattered drug dealers in Banaras and surrounding areas. Later, he found this trade highly lucrative and created his own drug cartel for supplying drug consignments in West-Bengal, U.P, Rajasthan, Punjab and Delhi/NCR,” said the DCP.

“He used to procure heroin in bulk quantity from Didi and supply the same to his sources/contacts through carriers and other members of his drug cartel.

The accused Pardeep told police that he was lured by Sanjeet to join his drug smuggling business and deliver heroin consignments to his contacts in West-Bengal and other parts of country against lucrative payments per consignment,” said the DCP.

“Pardeep further told police that he joined him and initially delivered heroin parcels in-and-around Banaras. Within no time he won Sanjeet’s trust and then he started accompanying him to receive heroin consignments from his prime source, Didi, at Siliguri in West-Bengal,” said the DCP.
