Ratibad police have arrested a 24-year-old accused for sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl for the past nine months at Nai Basti.

The atrocity surfaced after victim reported pain in her stomach and was taken to hospital where it was found that she is one and half month pregnant and later complaint was lodged with the police.

Victim in her complaint stated that accused Kamlesh Raikwar sexually assaulted her and exploited her threatening her of life. She told the police that in the month of January this year accused sexually assaulted her and later continued to sexually exploit her.

Based on complaint police registered a case under section 376 of the IPC and sections of POCSO and arrested the accused.

The victim who was taken to hospital was operated to abort the fetus as its condition was critical. After the doctors checked the victim she was found pregnant and later abortion was done.

Police said that the accused after receiving the information regarding the victim’s condition went absconding and was later arrested by the police.

The victim told her parents regarding the accused who used to live in her neighbor and did the heinous act.

She left studies after class 12 and used to stay at home during which the accused came into contact with her and taking advantage sexually assaulted and exploited her.

Details of other crimes by the accused would be investigated in the further investigation. Police suspects that the accused had also sexually assaulted other girls of the area.
