Following a tipoff, forest personnel of Khariar and Boden under the Khariar Forest Division conducted a raid in Daneibasa village of Boden block and arrested five poachers on Wednesday.
The team consisted of Range Officer Sadanan Sunani, Foresters Manoj Majhi and Meghnad Majhi and forest guards seized a Sambar leg and about five kilogram of Sambar meat from their possessions.
“About five kilogram of Sambar meat and one of the legs were seized and five persons were arrested on Wednesday and basing on their revelations, we have arrested more twenty accused on Thursday”, said Sunani.
It is guessed that the Sambar might have strayed on crop lands from the Guru Dongar Forest area, which is part of the buffer zone of the Sunabeda Wild Life Sanctuary, he added.
“The accused persons will be forwarded to court”, the Range Officer informed.
