3-day Garden Tourism Festival concludes

A three-day Garden Tourism Festival concluded on Sunday with dance and musical performances. The 32nd Garden Festival also saw various events including painting competition, cut flower and vegetable display among others that showcased the talent of the thousands of participants.

The fest concluded with vibrant dance forms such as Kaalbelia, a spellbinding magic show by Raffan and a serene musical performance by Jhoom, the band, concluding the day with a grand prize distribution ceremony, wherein winners across 32 categories were facilitated.

The festival was organised by Delhi Tourism in association with Delhi Government with an objective to create awareness about the environment and showcase the rich floriculture of Delhi, said a senior official of Delhi Tourism.

The three-day extravaganza which was themed ‘Plants-Lifeline for Everyone’ this year that narrates the important role of gardening in our life with various health and environmental benefits

A senior official of Delhi Tourism said that the fest witnessed thousands of visitors to the venue. “The festival enlightened the visitors on the importance of gardening and how small efforts can make a difference towards a greener Delhi,” he said.

Elaborating it further, he said that various nurseries showcasing plants for kitchen gardens, home gardens and indoor areas put up exclusive stalls. “Different theme gardens at the venue captivated large number of nature lovers. Floral Animals, potted plants, foliage, medicinal and herbal plants, organic items, gardening accessories etc were available for sale,” the official said.

“I have seen this festival grow bigger over the years and even-though my age allows me very little, I have never missed the fest,” said Shekhawat, one of the visitors from Rajajipuram, New Delhi.

C Arvind, General Manager of Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) said that all the participants wereawarded with trophies in different categories for their unique performances.
