80-year-old woman dies, grandson injured in road accident

An 80-year-old woman died while her grandson escaped with severe injuries after scooter they were riding skid and rammed near Khanugoan tri-section late in the night on Saturday. The youth was talking over mobile phone at the time of the accident.

Late in the night around 12 o’ clock, the injured youth and the elderly woman were rushed to a nearby hospital where woman died during treatment while youth escaped with injuries. The deceased was identified as Jaya Bai and the youth was identified as Vishnu alias Sonu.

Accident took place when the deceased was on his way to home at Parwalia with her grandson. Police were informed and after the preliminary investigation, the body was sent for post mortem. The police registered a case under section 174 of the CrPC.

The deceased came to meet her daughter in Ratibad on Saturday and was on her way back along with her grandson Sonu and when they reached near Khanugoan Sonu’s phone rang and he received call on the move and continued to ride but after some distance he lost control over the scooter in a bid to save vehicle and person trying to cross road and fell. The deceased hit the road divider which proved fatal for her.

Meanwhile, a 26-year-old woman committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling at her residence in Vajpayee Nagar EWS building under Shahjehanabad police station area on Sunday.

According to the police, the deceased Kajal was found hanging in the morning by the family members. Police were informed and based on the information a police team reached the spot and started investigation.

Police have not found any suicide note and no reason was found behind the suicide. The reason would be investigated. The body was sent for the post-mortem after the preliminary investigation. The police have registered a case under section 174 of the CrPC and have started further investigation.
