The State Government has so far provided placement-linked training programme to 90,890 boys and girls at various Skill Development Centres across the State during the last six years and, of them, 20,507 have got placements.
Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Premandana Nayak informed this in the State Assembly while replying to a question of Congress MLA Santosh Singh Saluja and other members on Saturday.
The Minister informed that a total of 70 skill development centres have opened across the State to expedite the State Government’s skill development programme. While 38 centres have opened at ITI/Polytechnic at district headquarters, one each has opened at Pallahar in Angul district and Begunia in Khordha district. Various affiliated training provided companies are providing training to youth at all these centres.
Besides, 11,32,428 boys and girls have been provided training under the Chief Minister’s Empoyment Generation Programme (CMEGP), which is implemented with the support of various departments. It has been targeted to provide training to 15 lakh youths in coming five years.
Under the Placement Linked Training Programme and DDU-GKY, a total of 4,127 boys and girls in Balangir district were provided training and, of them, 1793 have got jobs. Besides, 2,138 candidate were provided light motor vehicle training and self-employed during the last eight years.
