Sunday, 20 October 2019 | Mrituanjay Kumar | Ranchi

Thousands of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha supporters gathered despite heavy downpour during Jharkhand Mukti Morcha’s (JMM) Badlao Rally at city’s Harmu Ground on Saturday.

Upbeat after witnessing massive crowd in the rally, the party vowed to change the incumbent Government in upcoming State Assembly Election. A large number of people including party workers started gathering at the venue since morning shouting slogans like ‘Abki Bar Hemant Sarkar’ (Hemant Government This Time). People even did not stop coming when heavy rain started in mid afternoon of the day. The ground was completely filled with the party supporters that came to participate in the rally.

The cynosure of the programme was Tamar MLA, Vikas Singh Munda, who formally joined the party during the rally in presence of JMM Supremo Shibu Soren and former Chief Minister and JMM Executive president, Hemant Soren. Munda came to the venue with a huge crowd of his supporters. Soren welcomed Munda in the party by garlanding him after that Hemant Soren and Munda walked on the stage by waving to crowd, during the time the crowd started cheering.

Addressing the gathering after inclusion in the party Munda said that the objectives of formation of the State have not been realised even after 19 year of its formation. “I have joined the party to ensure realisation of objective of formation of the State and I am sure that in the able leadership of the party Executive president, Hemant Soren the goal will be realised,” he added.

Attacking on the State Government, Munda said that during last five years it seems that the Government of double engine looted the State with double speed.

Addressing the rally amidst heavy rains Soren appealed to the people to stand with the stage, walk along, and walk along the path of new Jharkhand, with the slogans to draw a big line for the new and better Jharkhand. He thanked people who came in such a large number to participate in the programme even in the bad weather. It shows that how much people of the State are eager to change the State Government, said Soren.

Speaking on the occasion the former Chief Minister said that JMM is a party that always stands up fearlessly in troubles of Jharkhand. “Our historical background exhibits it clearly. Even today, many of our MLAs sacrificed their positions to save Chhotanagpur Tenancy Act and Santhal Paragana Tenancy Act and other laws, which added golden letters to the history of JMM. Jharkhand was separated in the year 2000, but Jharkhand has not been able to meet the dreams of our great martyrs. Therefore, it has become necessary that now we should take the reins of the State from the hands of immigrant Chief Minister,” said Soren.

He announced several measures if the party voted to power such as 50 per cent reservation for women in Government’s jobs, law to save lands of locals, electricity equal to coal produce by the State, electricity free for upto 200 unit, increase in tourism, jobs for five lakh youths and house of worth Rs Three Lakh will be given to homeless people.
