Adequate arrangements have lead to procurement of more than 1.6 lakh Metric Ton wheat on daily basis in the State; additional 600 procurement centers have been established this year for procurement of 3.68 lakh Metric Ton wheat yield.
The yield which was 2.29 lakh Metric Ton increased to 3.68 lakh Metric Ton as compared on April 17. The procurement centers have been provided adequate gunny backs. Procurement of 15 lakh Metric Ton has been made from 1.99 lakh farmers.
Payment of procured wheat is directly transferred in bank accounts of farmers and society has adequate provision for payment of wheat procured. The 71 per cent of stock has been transported and pace of transportation has been increased.
For temporary storage more than 4 lakh Metric Tons of Silo bag have been arranged. Few places have been provided with facility of Cocoon. Places where storage facility are lacking open space for 14 lakh Metric Ton has been reserved.
The National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd. (NAFED) has been requested to shift procured wheat at some other place for smooth storage of procured wheat. At present, societies have been issued orders for temporary storage of wheat procurement to save from untimely rainfall.
Procurement of grams, lentils and mustard weighing around 8000 Metric Ton have been made at 193 centers from 3683 farmers. For gram and lentil 697 procurement centers have been approved which are higher than last year.
