Administration readies for Assembly Election

Sunday, 01 September 2019 | PNS | Ranchi

The district administration is all set to increase the enrollment of women as electors in Ranchi. With the State Assembly Election likely to be announced in another two months, the district administration has once again started the drive to get new voters enrolled in the electoral roll.

Deputy commissioner Rai Mahimapat Ray said on Saturday, “The gender ratio in electoral roll should be 947 women per thousand men but it is less in urban constituencies like Ranchi, Hatia, Kanke and rural constituencies of Khijri. All the booth level officers have been directed to add more women voters to the electoral roll and we have also requested the public representatives to encourage women to get enrolled as voters.” In Ranchi, the men-women ratio is 874, in Kanke it is 857, the ratio in Hatia is 914 while that in Khijri is 927.

The first electoral roll would be published on September 2 and people can file objections till September 17. A special drive to enroll electors will be organized on September 8 and 15 while the last day for filing final objection will be September 27. The final electoral roll will be published on October 12.

The DC organised a Media Samwad on Saturday informing about the progress of implementation of various government schemes in the district. He informed that a total of 25,089 grievances were registered at Mukhyamantri Jan Samwad of which 23,643 which is 94.24 per cent of the total complaints were resolved.

Talking about the compensation and jobs being given to kin of those who lost their lives in Maoist and Left Wing Extremists attack, Ray said, “As many as 101 people have been given compensation this year while 65 people have been given jobs on compassionate grounds.”

The DC also informed that a target till September 25 has been set to provide golden card under Ayushman Bharat scheme to all the beneficiaries in the district. “The Ayushman Bharat scheme completes one year on September 25. We are trying to provide cards or at least process applications of all the beneficiaries in the district till then. Around 1o to 12 thousand applications are coming in every day. The total number of cards to be made is 19.8 lakh. If we are able to meet the target we will probably be the first district in the country to do so,” he said.

Ray also said that the district is on the third position in State in providing benefits of Mukhyamantri Krishi Ashirwad Yojana, after Giridih and Palamu with a total entry of 1.21 lakh farmers from across Ranchi.

Also, the target of reaching out to beneficiaries of Ujjwala Scheme is almost achieved. “1,64,795 beneficiaries have been linked. We are going to link the remaining 2-3 per cent beneficiaries in the mop up operation,” Ray said.
