Bollywood actor and brand Ambassador of Swachch Bharat Mission (SBM) Akshay Kumar felicitated Hazaribagh deputy commissioner Ravi Shankar Shukla for district best performance in World Toilet Day contest. On Wednesday night, Shukla received the award from Kumar in Mumbai in presence of Drinking Water and Sanitation department secretary Aradhana Patnaik.
The Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation on November 3 announced the Swachh Bharat World Toilet Day Contest for districts and States. As the Swachh Bharat Mission enters its fifth and final year, the purpose of the Contest was to encourage all districts in India to re-intensify the sanitation people's movement with a special focus on ODF Sustainability.
Kumar talked to Shukla and took details related to Hazaribagh's performance in this contest. Shukla said it was support of all that the district performed extraordinarily in this contest. He said this contest was organised from Nov.9 to Nov.19 last year. He said administration launched a massive awareness drive as per the guidelines of this contest including evening and night meeting at rural areas to create awareness beside encouraging rallies by school students to organising nukad nataks (street plays). Kumar after interacting with Shukla lauded the effort and team work. He congratulated Shukla after handing over the certificate and trophy.
