After the Kandhamal residential school shame, another minor girl delivered a baby in Jajpur district on Friday. The incidence was reported from the Danagadi area under the Kalinganagar police limits.
She delivered a baby girl at the Danagadi CHC on Thursday evening following labour pain on her way back to home with her father from Jajpur town.
According to reports, the girl was engaged by a youth identified as Pintu Jena, a contractor in Railways, to provide him water on a daily basis at a wage of Rs 1,000 per month. Jena had allegedly kept physical relationship with her and asked her not to disclose it to anyone.
After five months of pregnancy, the girl disclosed everything to an Asha Worker, who later informed it to her family. The family lodged a police complaint accusing Jena of impregnating the girl.
“I had lodged a complaint with police two months ago, but no action has been taken against the accused so far,” alleged the victim’s father.
“The girl aged about 14 years old along with her father was taken to Jajpur by the Kalinganagar police yesterday. She suffered from labour pain on the way while she was returning home. She was immediately rushed to the Danagadi CHC, where she delivered a baby. Both she and her baby have been shifted to the Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital,” said the Asha Worker.
