On the occasion of 25th anniversary of Army Air Defence on Thursday, a joint Army Air Defence-Indian Navy sailing expedition was flagged off from the Gopalpur Port by Lieutenant General Satinder Singh, AVSM, Commandant, Army Air Defence College.
Lieutenant General Satinder Singh, AVSM while conveying his best wishes to the participants emphasised on the significance of such joint training activities within armed forces and its implications on developing a sense of camaraderie and brotherhood between the two services which would be helpful in creating an atmosphere of trust and understanding while carrying out joint operations in future.
The sailing team comprising one officer and three other ranks from Army Air Defence College and two sailors from the Indian Navy will cover approximately 484 km in the Bay of Bengal. The sailing team had earlier commenced the expedition from Visakhapatnam on January 6 and was flagged off by Vice Admiral MS Pawar, AVSM, VSM, Chief of Staff Eastern Naval Command and will culminate back at Visakhapatnam on January 14.
