BIT Mesra holds 29th Convocation Ceremony

Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), Mesra organized 29th Convocation Ceremony on Wednesday in which a total of 1337 students received their degrees in various disciplines out of which 838 were graduate degrees, 387 were post graduate degrees and 112 were Ph D.

Addressing the gathering as Chief Guest of the programme, Ex-Minister of Bhutan’s works and Human Settlement Ministry, Dasho Dorji Choden delivered enlightening words on the occasion.  The first lady engineer of Bhutan and a distinguished alumna of the Civil Engineering department of BIT Mesra, Dasho, in her deliverance she felt deep gratitude to be in her alma mater after 35 years and expressed pride on the exponential progress the institute has made since.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor of Jharkhand and Chancellor of the Universities, Draupadi Murmu encouraged a spirit of innovation throughout.

Addressing on the occasion the Chairman, Board of Governors, CK Birla delivered an inspiring speech in which he urged the students to keep achieving milestones in their lives and expressed pride on the way the college is progressing in different spheres.

Vice-Chancellor of the Institute, Professor MK Mishra presented the activity report of the institute and elaborated on the various placement figures, R and D activities, infrastructural developments and international Memorandum of Understandings signed with premier institutions across the globe in the year 2018-2019. He also mentioned the academic and co-curricular achievements of the students and the various national and international seminars held in the institute in the previous year.

Next, the dignitaries called upon the podium, the gold medalists of the different courses after which the students of various streams were conferred their respective degrees.

The gold medalists of the various courses were including Bachelor of Architecture, Vallary Gupta, Bachelor of Engineering (Biotechnology), Maheshwari Chala, Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical), Sanjana Roy,

Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical Engineering, Plastics and Polymer), Voruganti Sindhuja, Bachelor of Engineering (Civil), Abhishek Roy

Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical and Electronics), Garima Sharma,

Bachelor of Engineering (Information Technology), Shashank Shekhar,

Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical), Shivangi Chopra, Bachelor of Engineering (Production), Vikram Raj Aman, Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Samridhi Mishra, Bachelor of Pharmacy, Gaurav Ranjan.

Students, who had qualified in their respective programmes till February 26, 2019, were awarded degrees in the ceremony. 

Before the proceedings of the ceremony, a statue of Padma Bhushan GP Birla was unveiled in front of the GP Birla Auditorium. The statue was garlanded by CK Birla and Dasho Dorji Choden.
