BJP holds bandh over Sundargarh CDMO suspension

Tuesday, 15 October 2019 | PNS | SUNDARGARH

The district BJP on Monday observed a six-hour bandh  in the town opposing the suspension of Sundargarh CDMO Pankaj Patel.During the bandh from 6 am to 12 noon, shops, business establishments and Government offices remained closed. While vehicular movement was normal in the town, educational institutions and emergency services were excluded from the ambit of the bandh.

BJP leader and Sundargarh Sadar MLA Kusum Tete, in a letter to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik appealed to withdraw the suspension of CDMO

Tete in her letter demanded that huge vacancy of doctors and paramedical staffs in the district should be filled up immediately, whichshe claimed, would pave the way for successful implementation of 5T inthe district.

The BJP workers also took out a motorcycle rally in the town in the morning as a part of the shutdown.Notably, the State Government on Sunday had suspended Patel for negligence in duty.  He was placed under suspension on charges of not executing the ‘Mo Sarkar’ initiative of the Government at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).

The move came after Secretary to the Chief Minister (Transformation and Initiative), VK Pandian visited the DHH to review healthcare services.

During the visit, some patients complained that they were being asked to get medical tests done in private facilities outside the hospital. It was also alleged that patients were being provided only breakfast whereas there is provision for meals at the hospital.
