Chhattisgarh state assembly on Friday strongly condemned the suicidal attack on the para-military CRPF convoy at Pulwama that killed at least 43 troopers which created a national outrage against Pakistan.
The blast occurred on a highway 20km away from Srinagar on Thursday.
As soon as the assembly began proceedings, Speaker Charandas Mahant mentioned the death of CRPF men in Pulwama and a two minute silence was observed in respect of the martyrs.
Speaker while recalling the martyrdom of Jawans said the House condemns the brutal act.
Rs Rs The Jawans would be remembered for their dedication towards the nation and the House pays tribute to them. The House on behalf of people of Chhattisgarh mourns the death of Jawans and prays for the bereaved family’’ Speaker remarked in his very emotional but in a brief speech.
Condemning the attack, Leader of the Opposition Dharamlal Kaushik said “we stand with the grieved family of the martyrs and a befitting reply would be given to the terrorist in time to come for their cowardly act”. “On behalf of my party I pay tribute to the departed souls and we stay united for the families of martyrs”, he said.
Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (JCC) (J) legislator Dharamjeet Singh said if the terrorists were thinking that with this cowardly act they could weaken our country, they were having misconception. The sacrifice of the security personnel in Jammu and Kashmir would not go in vain, he further added.
Former Chief Minister Raman Singh condemning the martyrdom of Jawans said the entire nation stood shoulder to shoulder with martyrs’ families. He further asserted that it was certain that a major retaliatory action would be taken by our country to eliminate terrorism.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ravindra Choubey said the two sons of motherland 'Kisan' and 'Jawan' are the two under whose shoulders the country was standing. Only because of our Jawans, our countrymen heave a sigh of relief and feel protected, he said. He added that a befitting reply is needed for this suicidal attack.
After paying tributes to martyrs, the proceedings of budget session of the state assembly on Friday were suspended and the House was adjourned till Monday.
