Campaigning hots up for FJCCI polls

Just four days ahead of the Executive Committee elections of Federation of Jharkhand Chambers and Commerce and Industries (FJCCI), which will choose its new executive committee on September 8, campaigning for the two teams have reached to its peak. 

This is 57th Executive Committee election of FJCCI since its inception in 1960 and new Committee will be 57th. Past president FJCCI and head supervisor Vishnu Budhia said that a total of 3414 members of the traders will elect the 21 member committee including a president, two vice presidents, a secretary general, honorary secretary, two joint secretaries and one treasurer. “Other than this 6 vice president will be elected from their respective regions from the State. Rest of the elected members will be executive committee member,” he added.

“First time in this election a computerised voting system will be used to conduct fair and hassle free elections. Earlier the elections were conducted on ballot papers. Voters will cast their votes at Marwari Bhawan situated at Harmu Road in the State Capital.  The voting will start at 9 am and continue till 6 pm. Unlike earlier, this year counting will took place on the same day after gap of half an hour of voting and the supervisor committee will announce the results on the same day,” said Budhia.

Both the teams have left no stone unturned to win their seats as one team led by incumbent Secretary General FJCCI Kunal Azmani and other led by noted businessmen Kishore Mantri. Candidates of both the team are busy in their campaigning as the day of voting is nearing.

Informing about the voting process the election Supervisor said that in attempt to conduct fair election, the Chamber has made new rule this time as the voter will have to verify their identity at first then he can get voting slip to cast their vote. “For this the chambers has been installing two online counters. A total of 30 computerised polling system will be installed at the polling center to conduct fast polling as one voter have to vote for 21 posts and there is no option like NOTA (non of the above), the voters he will have to vote for all posts” he added.    

Incumbent FJCCI president, Dipak Maroo appealed that an elected office bearer should work for the betterment of the businessmen community and they should work for boosting Chamber’s dignity.
