Khanpur MLA Pranav Singh ‘Champion’ appeared before the three-member inquiry committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party formed to probe into the controversy resulting from the spat between him and Jhabreda MLA Deshraj Karnwal. The committee coordinator and MLA Khajan Das said that Champion presented his position based on six points. He was asked to present the same in writing along with evidence. The committee had earlier recorded the views of Karnwal and office bearers of the party from Haridwar district. Das said that the committee has recorded the statements of all required for its probe. It will be submitting its report to the BJP State president Ajay Bhatt on Monday.
It will be recalled that a series of statements made by the two MLAs against each other in the media had resulted in notices being served to the duo by the party on disciplinary grounds. The issue appeared to have been resolved after chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat held a meeting with them at his residence. However, it was sparked off again when Karnwal approached the high court in an old case.
